Obituary of June E. Hollenbeck

June E. (Dunbar) Hollenbeck age 101 of Horseheads, NY entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, June 25, 2023. She was born June 15, 1922, to Ernest and Edna (Harvey) Dunbar. June married her childhood friend and high school sweetheart, Leon Rho Hollenbeck, Jr. in June 1944. Upon retirement June and Rho enjoyed traveling the world together for 17 years. After 51 years of marriage Rho pre-deceased her in 1995. She was also pre-deceased by sister and brother-in-law Ursula and Rev. Wilson Kilgore; brother and sister-in-law Harvey and Lenora Dunbar; and son-in-law Leo Tetreault. June is survived by her children: April Tetreault of Randolph, MA; Rho (Brenda) Hollenbeck of Summerville, SC; Ruth (Steven) Spencer of Wellsburg, NY; and Julie Casey of St. James, MN; 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. June graduated from the Horseheads Central School District and received her Bachelor of Music Degree from Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. She later taught music at Broad Street Elementary School. June was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church in Horseheads and in later years Pine Valley Baptist Church. Her love for her family and God's family was her major interest through life, serving as choir director (30 years) and wherever else there was a need. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY on Thursday, June 29 from 4:00-6:00 PM. Mrs. Hollenbeck's Funeral Services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 6PM with the Pastor Andrew Gable Officiating. June will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery next to her beloved husband L. Rho Hollenbeck Jr. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Pine Valley Baptist Church 4872 Pinecrest Rd. Millport, NY 14864.
