Obituary of Rae Ann Brigger

Rae Ann Brigger passed away on June 29, 2023. She was born on December 7, 1940 in Olean, NY. Rae Ann was predeceased by her loving parents, Raymond and Iris Curtis of Eldred, PA and her special brother, Robert Curtis. She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Brigger of 61 years. They had a wonderful marriage with a very strong bond with lots of love and respect for each other. Rae Ann has three great children, Scott (Angela) Brigger of Lakewood Ranch, FL, Todd Brigger of Horseheads, and Brenda (Bill) Thorpe of Horseheads. Her children were fantastic as they took outstanding care of their Mother during her illness. They devoted hundreds of hours with her to keep her comfortable. Rae Ann loved them so much and was very proud of them. She also has three wonderful grandchildren, Erica Brigger of Santa Cruz, CA, Connor and Owen Thorpe of Horseheads that she loved very much. She enjoyed and watched them participate in school and sports functions for many years. Rae Ann also has several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Rae Ann graduated from Otto Eldred High School in 1959. Attended Mansfield College and then worked as a Secretary with Corning Glass Works (Corning, Inc.). After 5 years, she decided to retire to raise her children and be a homemaker. She was a very loving, caring and compassionate person who was a wonderful caregiver to her Mother and Father in-Laws when they had cancer. She also gave her Mother wonderful dedicated care as she had many health problems and was on oxygen for 10 years. Rae Ann gave freely of her time and never complained and said she was always glad to help. She was an amazing lady as she did all this and still raised three children and kept a spotless home. Rae Ann was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She liked crafts, sewing, flower arrangements and gardening. Enjoyed decorating her home and was very good at it and many felt she should have been an interior decorator. When her husband retired from Corning, Inc. they enjoyed going on trips with close friends. They went to Hawaii, Alaska, Portugal, Cancun, Mexico, Las Vegas, Branson and other places. They also enjoyed going to Florida for 25 years to get a break from the cold and snow in New York State. She was an active member of the Horseheads First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the church's Deborah Hannah Circle and worked many of the church's rummage sales, dinners and other functions. Rae Ann worked as an Election Clerk for many years, was a member of Friends of the Chemung River and Wings of Eagles. Family and friends are invited to the Lynch Funeral Home 318 W. Broad St. Horseheads, NY from 12:00 to 1:30PM on Monday July 17, 2023. Memorial services will be directly after calling hours. Graveside services will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads.
