Helen J. "Ellen" Baker age 88 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Tuesday July 11,2023. Ellen was born November 19, 1934 in Elmira, NY the daughter of the late James and Helen Sheehan Turner. She was a graduate of Southside High School Class of 1952. Ellen married her husband Robert E. Baker on October 15, 1960 and they would have celebrated their 63rd Wedding Anniversary on October 15, 2023. She was a retired administrative assistant with the Chemung County Department of Social Services. Ellen was a communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads, NY and an original member of St. Mary Our Mother Choir. In addition to her parents, Ellen is pre-deceased by her brothers James Turner and William Turner and her sisters Carolyn Kolb and Mary Jane Ruggiero. She loved her family and friends and treasured the time she spent with them. Ellen is survived by her loving and devoted husband Robert E. Baker ; her loving daughter and son-in-law: Leslie A. and William Petty of Warners, NY ; her cherished grandchildren: Megan, Alex, Claire , and Lauren Petty ; sisters: Rose Berman and Elizabeth Chilson; several nieces , nephews, cousins , and a host of caring friends. Mrs. Baker's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday July 19, 2023 at 10 AM at St. Mary Our Mother Church 816 West Broad Street Horseheads, NY.
