Obituary of Brooks Henry David Braender

BROOKS HENRY DAVID BRAENDER III Age 77 of Horseheads, NY formerly of Daytona Beach , Florida and Hilton Head , SC passed away on Sunday November 11 , 2018 . Brooks was born August 1 , 1941 in Neptune , NJ the son of the late Harry and Mary Jeanne Cendoya Braender Jr.. He was raised by his mother and step-father Tom MacHill . Brooks was a graduate of Father Lopez High School in 1961 . He served his country with The U.S. Navy during The Cuban Missile Crisis . He was a Photo Journalist for Roger Fawcett Publications for CBS in New York City. Brooks and his step-father Tom MacHill tested cars for General Motors for specifications details and any potential defects. Brooks was a gold member of The NRA and taught Hunter Safety Course for over 20 years . He was a Sacristin for over 40 years at Our Lady Of Lourdes Church In Florida . He was also a member of The Society of Cincinatus and had five ancestors in The Revolutionary War and one signed The Declaration of Independence. Brooks was pre-deceased by his wife Nancy Joyce Hamm Braender on November 17 , 2015 and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mary Lou Hamm Tryon and William A. Tryon II of Elmira , NY . Brooks is survived by Nancy's daughters Holly Helewell-Carpenter and her husband Jason of Horseheads, NY and Julie Ann Bennett of Punta Verde Beach , Florida ; grandson ; Christian William Lopez of Horseheads, NY ; several nieces , nephews , cousins , and a host of caring friends including niece Susan Tryon Rogers and nephews Ronald Tryon and William A. Tryon along with several grand nieces and grand nephews . Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY on Wednesday November 21, 2018 from 4-6 PM. Brooks' Funeral Services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours and Full Military Honors will be accorded Mr. Braender following his Funeral Services at the Funeral Home.
